VISA Information:

Participants from the USA do not need a visa. For information on visa requirements from other countries, please visit the Canadian Visa web site at: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp

Passport Requirements:

As of June 1, 2009, everyone from every country that comes to Canada by air, land and sea needs a passport or equivalent travel document. (Some exceptions apply to children's passport requirements)

If you haven't already, apply now for your U.S. passport or an equivalent travel document.

Letters of Invitation:

For participants needing invitation letters, please email your request to: Christine Kurbis at christine_kurbis@sfu.ca and include the following information:

According to the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) web site http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/letter.aspthe Letter of Invitation must include the following information about the person being invited:

  • Complete Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Complete address and telephone number
  • The purpose of the trip
  • Dates you will enter and exit Canada
  • Details on accommodation and living expenses

And, according to the CIC web site, some visa offices may require that your letter be notarized by a Notary Public.  Please check with the visa office in your country, that is processing your application, to find out if your Letter of Invitation needs to be notarized.

If there is more than one Canadian Visa Office in your country, please go to http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/apply-where.asp to confirm which location and/or complete mailing address should be used for the Letter of Invitation.
