Eight Minutes of Fame Digital Showcase Format Requirements
new deadline for completed works is may 30, 2008!
Digital media, social computing, and virtual worlds have a tremendous impact on teaching in the 21st century, as well as on how students learn and their expectations. Faculty that have reached out to their students through this rich media can show off their teaching in this very lively format. Think of this as a multimedia poster session!
Faculty may present work in a visual, digital format (slide show, movie, etc) that showcases their teaching methods or their student's work.
Your eight minutes includes your on-stage introduction of the piece as well as the play time. Formats may be any of the following: PowerPoint, MOV (QuickTime), WMV (Windows Media), Flash or Machinima or a Digital Media Game.
Some examples are a machinima movie of your class in Second Life, a game you or your students created. Have fun, strut your stuff (or your students), and show us the effect of transformative teaching and learning in the 21st century!
Acceptance is based on a brief abstract describing the project along with the final product uploaded to a secure site that will be then loaded on conference computers played at the session. Please email Karen Barth if you have questions regarding a specific format or the showcase in general.
To facilitate easier processing, reviewing, and publishing all submissions, PLEASE adhere to the following:
- Use 12-point Times New Roman font in your proposal.
- Adopt single-spacing throughout the document.
- Double space (instead of indent) to designate a new paragraph or section.
- Proposed format type (see above).
- Draft a cover page that includes title, authors, their affiliations, their contact information, and the topic of the submission.
- Repeat title, authors and affiliations at head of body of proposal.
