2008 theme:
Transforming Higher Education Teaching and Learning
in the 21st Century
due to the overwhelming reponse to this conference, registration is now limited to presenters, board members, moderators, and their guests.
These individuals should contact iut@uwf.edu for a direct link to registration.
IUT emphasizes dialogue and sharing among conference participants through provocative keynote addresses, lively, interactive theme sessions, panel presentations, and workshops. The conference offers further opportunities for international exchanges during the coffee breaks, lunches, and evening social events.
Our conference theme this year is Transforming Higher Education Teaching and Learning in the 21st Century. IUT historically has advocated a change in the pedagogical paradigm from “teacher-centered” to “learning-centered.” Our emphasis this year is on transformation and transformative education in university teaching and learning.
We welcome submissions that address any aspect of transformation that positively influences learning, teaching, and university life. In particular, we would like to address the following questions:
- What classroom conditions foster the most meaningful learning?
- Are there pedagogical strategies that have greater power for transformation than others?
- What are the disciplines' opportunities for transformative learning experiences?
- How can we fairly assess transformative learning?
- To what degree is transformation learning driven by instructor personality?
- How can institutions embrace transformational learning as part of the mission?
- What effect do digital natives and the new media culture have on classroom expectations, behavior, teaching, and learning?
